looking for hitch for our new 5th wheel. tow vehicle is 22 chevy 2500hd with factory installed puck system. standard size bed. Totally new to 5th wheels. was told curt a16would be good option.

Since you have a shorter bed you'll want to go with a sliding fifth wheel hitch to give yourself some extra turning clearance during tight turns. You'll also need to know the GVWR of the trailer to choose the correct capacity hitch. The Curt A16 Slider # C16521 would be a good option if your trailer has a GVWR less than it's 16,000lb capacity, but would require a rail adapter # C88KR to connect to your puck system.
If you need something with a bit more capacity then I recommend going with the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3775. This hitch has a 20,000lb capacity and comes with feet designed to drop right into your puck system.
