Lubricating Instructions for the Reese 69220 Sidewinder
Updated 01/11/2024 | Published 01/10/2024 >
Question:
Where can I find the instructions on how to disassemble and lubricate the Reese 69220 20K sidewinder hitch. There is nothing in the instruction manual for this other than the notice to do it. And there is no rebuild kit available as there was for earlier versions of the sidewinder kingpin.

I did some research and it looks like all Reese provides instruction wise for the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP34FR is:
1. Lubricate wedge screw with white lithium grease, working the wedge through it’s entire travel will extend the longevity
of your product.
2. Use lithium grease to lubricate the pivot shaft, to allow for smooth function of the turret.
3. Some towing setups may require a castle nut torque higher than the listed 80 ft-lbs due to vehicle/trailer dynamics
(note that this requires removal and replacement of the cotter pin).
1. If the application requires a tighter turret, increase the torque in increments of 10 ft-lbs.
2. Ensure that the cotter pin is installed after tightening the castle nut.
As far as disassembly instructions go, I wasn't able to find anything, but I was able to find an image showing where to lubricate the pin box that I've attached as well.
