Yes, the pin hole you're talking about on the Gen-Y 2-Ball Mount for 2-1/2" Hitch Receivers # 325-GH-064 is actually there so you can turn the ball mount 90-degrees in the hitch receiver and install the 1-7/8" Bolt-On Hitch Ball # 325-GH-090 if you ever need to tow a trailer with that small of a coupler.
It's just a simple but effective way to get some extra use out of this ball mount.
