You definitely need safety chain loops when using the Gen-Y Hitch Offset Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # GY55XR with the OEM puck system on your short bed 2023 GMC Sierra 3500, and for that I recommend the following:
- Curt Safety Chain Loops # C60691
These install in the 2 remaining pucks and give you those connections for a safe towing experience.
