Can Lid Strap on 1990s Era Sears Rooftop Cargo Box Be Replaced

Question:

I am looking for replacement latches for my 1990s Era sears car top carrier. It has galvanized metal latches bolted into the box tops and bottoms. I can provide pictures.

You might be able to repurpose some of the parts in the SportRack Replacement Hardware Kit # SR05587, but it would be more cost-effective to run out to your local hardware/home improvement store to see if they have any generic straps and bracket that can fit your carrier.

If you aren't able to find what you're looking for and you're interested in replacing the box altogether then I recommend checking out the Malone Cargo12 Rooftop Cargo Box # MPG901 which looks to be about the same size and it has some simple upgrades for easier use and operation.
