How to Replace the Red Knob for the Yakima FrontLoader Bike Carrier

There seems to be a keeper washer below the nut and washer that hold the knob on. Is there a trick to removing it?

There shouldn't be another washer on the Replacement Red Knob for Yakima Frontloader Fork Mount Bike Carrier # 8880226. That appears to be part of the internal threads on the red knob itself. To replace this piece you'll just have to replace the brass nut and bolt that hold this to the rack and you'll be all set.

To replace the knob on your Yakima FrontLoader #Y02103 you will remove the brass nut and bolt that keep the knob secure. If your FrontLoader was made after 2016 you need the #8880766. If it was made before 2016 you will need the #8880226 instead.

Is it possible your FrontLoader was built after 2016 which would mean you'd need the knob part #8880766 which has a different nut in it and would explain why the older knob #8880266 isn't threading correctly.

Yes, you will remove the brass nut and bolt and the red knob will come off. You should note that the #8880226 does not come with a new nut (just a washer), so be sure not to lose your current one.
