Troubleshooting Roadmaster Comfort Ride Squeaking After 5,000 Miles
Published 09/29/2023 >
Question:
I have roadmaster 2560 and shock kit installed on my 5th wheel. After about 5k miles it has developed a squeak. Im getting conflicting information on lubing the friction plate or not. I reused the wet bolts when installed. I value your advice. What is your soloution? Thanks

Expert Reply:
I believe you are referring to the wear pad where the leaf springs make contact on the # RM-2460-2560. You can use an all purpose grease here at the point of contact. Assuming that is where the sound is coming from this should eliminate the squeaking.
As for the rest of the system, it is a dry system so no other lubrication should be applied. The wet bolts you have should also be replaced with standard bolts. Adding grease to these can cause a reaction with the bushing which will make it constrict. If that happens it will prevent movement and cause problems you don't want to have.
