Question:
I have a 1996 EZ loader boat trailer for a ~1400lb boat I’m looking for new hub kit, preferably pre-greased. original hub depth is 3.5”. Rear of grease seal to the end of the threaded part of spindle is 4.19” . There is some additional room ~1” past the grease seal before the spindle welds to the frame. Do I have to find another “short hub” or will a current model work? The spindle is straight. Grease seal diameter is 1.25”. I cannot tell if bearings are 1” or 1.06”. No markings on bearings or races. Spindle measures 1.05”, bearing ID measures 1.04” and 1.06”. measured multiple times with multiple calipers. Length of 1.05” diameter section of spindle is 2.58” Upon inspection, the original hubs appear to be for 12” wheels although the tire shop put 13” wheels on the trailer. I am hoping to find a new hub that will support the 13” wheels. Thank you for any info you can provide

It does sound like your bearings are a # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter). If they are original to the trailer they may be pretty worn, which is why your measurements may be off by a few hundredths. Also the seal # 34823 that can be used with the hub # CE13311 is a 1.249" ID so I think we are on the same page there.
The hub # CE13311 uses the correct bearings and seal, but it is is 4 1/8" from the outside of the inner bearing to the outside of the outer bearing. Virtually all of the hubs we have will be the same length. In all likelihood you will need to find another "short hub" to fit on your spindle. We do not carry any short hubs here, and they may prove very difficult to find. Replacing the spindles may be the only option.
