How is Roller Tension Put into RV Awning Roller
Updated 08/14/2023 | Published 08/11/2023 >
Question:
Was reading a thread about the manual to electric arms kit and they stated something about winding the awning 14 times and that seemed dangerous and this was Jamison cs reply When you install a Solera awning arm kit like the part # LC434724 that you referenced you need to wind the awning 14 times so that it has the correct amount of spring tension. All the videos I saw talked about removing the spring from the old manual system. How do do remove the springs and wind 14 times to build tension? I assumed you removed the springs and the new motor supplied any required tension.

Expert Reply:
Winding the roller to get the proper spring tension comes down to installing everything on the roller and arm side except for attaching the fabric to the awning rail that holds it. This is where you wind the roller 14 times away from the RV body and then once you get to that point attach the fabric to the rail. The motor does not automatically put in the correct tension.
