Question:

I own an excursion and am looking for a simple roof rack that will span 45-50 in wide by 100-105 in long with 5-7 in high walls. Its purpose is more mounting of lights, horns, wind deflector for RV/boat, and maybe light luggage strollers, light load 2x4s, etc. Not looking to break the bank either. Please recommend what you have available to meet the need.

The only thing that comes close to those dimensions is the Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket # SPS5084. This measures 84" long x 50" wide x 5" deep. Aside from the length this meets all of your other criteria. You will also need two of the Adapter for Surco Safari Roof Racks # SPCH100 which will allow you to install the basket on your 2001 Excursion.

The price is a bit high on the Surco but no other roof basket comes close in size. For a more budget friendly option, we also have the Curt # C18115-117. This measures 64-1/2" long x 39" wide x 7-1/4" tall and fits crossbars up to 3" wide x 1-5/8" tall. However, if you don't already have a roof rack you would need one to attach to with this and others like it. The Surco will actually fit the factory track on your roof so there won't be the additional cost of a roof rack added to it.
