How to Tell is etrailer Hitch for 2006 Toyota Sienna Came with M10 or M12 Bolts

Question:
I ordered e98837 for Toyota Sienna 2006 XLE. I cleaned and lubricated the 6 holes. However, I tried the hex bolts and they seemed not engaging with the holes. From the instruction, the part number for the hex bolt is 10-10277 and its M12. the bag shows different PN# 163229 and the actual bolt has M 10.9 on it. See the attached photo. I am wondering if I received the correct parts of the hex bolts. Can you please confirm? Thanks.

I'd be happy to help you out!
The 10.9 number you're seeing on the head of the bolt has to do with the strength of the bolt not necessarily the size of the bolt. I'm not seeing a part number for the etrailer Trailer Hitch # e98837 so I recommend measuring the threads to determine what size you have. An M10 bolt will have threads measuring 10 mm in diameter while an M12 bolt will have threads measuring 12 mm in diameter.
If yours ends up being 10 mm let me know so I can have our customer service team reach out to you about replacement hardware, but if you have 12 mm you might need to spend a bit more time checking the threads on your 2006 Toyota Sienna. I recently installed a hitch on my 2010 Chrysler Town and Country and the bolts were extremely difficult to remove because of all of the built up in the threads so for something even older I can see that being an issue as well when it comes to installing the bolts.
