Can 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tires be Replaced by ST145/R12 Tires on Jayco Camper

Question:

Hello, I have a 2004 Jayco Eagle 14 pop-up that needs new tires. Currently the tires on it are 5.30-12 Bias ply tires. I was looking at replacing them with radial tires and wanted to know if the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 would be a good tire for my pop-up.

Not only can the 5.30-12 bias trailer tires on your Jayco camper be replaced by ST145/R12 radial tires, it's something I highly recommend. Reason for that is bias tires have cords which run diagonally while radial tires have cords that run from side-to-side. What this does is result in radial tires flexing more, running cooler (which means they last longer), and providing better road traction. So bias tires are more for agricultural type use while radial tires are for regular road and highway use.
