Are Replacement Parts Available For A 2018 Forest River R-Pod Travel Trailer RV Water Heater

Updated 06/20/2023 | Published 06/19/2023

Question:

My propane water heater stopped working on propane. It does work on electric just fine. Trouble shooting narrows problem to spark or control panel. Been looking all sites but can’t tell the make and model of my 2018 rpod’s water heater. Then I need parts diagram so I can find the spark and control panel mechanism. Hopefully you have the information and parts needed. Thank You.

Unfortunately there is no guide available for the public to know exactly what water heater was installed inside of your 2018 Forest River R-Pod. That being said, the most commonly installed units during this time were either Atwood or Dometic. There should be some sort of sticker/label on the unit itself or on the inside of the access door listing the brand and model number so that we can try to find some parts. If it's Dometic model there's the possibility that you can still get replacements directly through them, but if it's an Atwood you'd either have to hope you can find replacements secondhand or replace the entire unit.

If it comes to replacement then I recommend the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR93FR. This water heater has a 13,000 - 60,000 Btu rating and can produce up to 144 gallons of hot water and hour. Atwood and Dometic models typically top out at around 10,000 Btu's to give you a bit of a reference in performance.

As for installation, these units along with many others on the market have all switch to much smaller dimensions so you would likely have to frame in the unit a bit since it's 12-5/8" L x 12-13/16" W x 19-3/16" D. From there you'd just want to choose the correct access door to cover to entire cutout hole. We have the following sizes:

16" x 16" # FR43FR
16" x 18" # FR63FR
18" x 18" # FR73FR

When installing the unit and access door you'll want to use butyl tape # AL28FJ on both mounting flanges and non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 around the outer edge of the access door for a waterproof seal.
