Will the Trailer Battery Still Charge When Using the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller
Updated 05/30/2023 | Published 05/27/2023 >
Question:
2014 Ram 3500 short bed truck pulling 5th wheel trailer. Is there a simple solution to have the brake controller provide charging power to the 5th wheel trailer battery? I read Chris solution for the person using the 4-way to 7-way adapter. But I have the C51180 plugged into the trucks factory installed 7-way in the truck bed.

Expert Reply:
The Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller part # C51180 uses the trailer battery charge line circuit coming from the vehicle for power. That said, it doesn't steal all this power and there will still be some passing through allowing the trailer battery to charge while hooked up and using the controller.
