Question:

Which of your flat carry rooftop racks would be best for a 71# Perception Cove 14.5 foot Kayak? Is the Sea Wing carrier sturdy enough for a 71# kayak? If the Mega Wing is preferred for the weight, will it properly support the Cove Hull? The hull is flatter in the mid region.

The Malone SeaWing Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # MPG107MD has a weight capacity of 75 lbs so it will be able to handle your 71 lb kayak just fine, and is the kayak carrier that I recommend for your application. The MegaWing # MPG207 has the same basic profile as the SeaWing so it will fit the same with your kayak - the main difference is the MegaWing is more robust so it can handle up to a 150 lb kayak.

I do recommend picking up the Stinger Load Assist # MPG350 for the SeaWing as well since it will help make loading your heavier kayak much easier.
