Are these meant for visual alignment only or are they also meant to align your boat by contact like the rollers ones?

The CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27626 are really for visual aid. The black section you'll see while loading your boat is made out of PVC and while it will be okay with a soft nudge from your boat, if you were to press your boat up against it and use it to guide your boat on the trailer that way it would only be a matter of time before the PVC would break.
