Can You Use Bike Rack on Back of Motorhome with Blue Ox Tow Bar and KarGard

Question:
Looking at adding a bike rack on our motorhome with a dual hitch for towing our Mini Cooper. We also use a BlueOx Karguard on the hitch. Will I need to use an extension on the tow bar so the bike rack does not come into contact with the car or Karguard when making turns? And does the bike rack interfere with moving our BlueOx tow bar to its stowed position, or again would I need an extension to clear the bike rack?

In order to flat-tow a vehicle and carry bikes at the same you'll need a dual hitch adapter like the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for Tow Bars part # RM-077-2 or part # RM-077-4. In most cases, your bikes won't come into contact with the vehicle during turns but we can't say definitively that's that case for every vehicle as there are simply way to many factors. That said, the arms on Blue Ox tow bars are pretty long so this will increase your clearance. I'd also recommend a hanging style rack as they won't sick out as much like the Thule Range RV Bike Rack for 4 Bikes part # TH9057.
In regards to the Blue Ox KarGard Towed Vehicle Protector part # BX8870, you really won't know until you try but worse case it will need to be removed. The tow bar should still be able to stowed with the adapter and rack installed but if you have the bikes up there as well that could make things a bit harder. Unfortunately, you can't add any additional adapter or extenders to this setup.
