Yes, you are able to add additional structure to mount a A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5210-B on a straight tongue trailer. This would make the trailer stronger and less likely to have an issue with the pole tongue sagging from weight.

In order to determine the correct kit for your trailer I recommend measuring the diameter of your axle. The #K71-384-00 is for a 2-3/8" axle. More than likely you have a 2,000 lb axle with a 1-3/4" diameter. You will need to confirm this.…
