What To Check When OEM Trailer Brake Controller In 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 Is Not Working
Updated 03/22/2023 | Published 03/21/2023 >
Question:
I have a 2015 Silverado 3500 Dually. Trailer brakes will not activate. Nothing shows on dash screen when you squeeze the manual controller and no power at the trailer connector. The dash controller and the trailer brake module located on the frame were both replaced….but still nothing. Have any suggestions on what to try next?

I'd check fuse number 1 in the engine bay fuse compartment of your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. That's going to be what gives power to the OEM brake controller.
If you test that fuse with a tester like # PTW2993 and find it to be working (Don't just look at it, they can look fine but still not carry current) then you'll need to trace the power wire from the fuse block to the brake controller, as there is a break somewhere causing power to not be carried all the way.
If this isn't something you're comfortable with then you'll want to have a local Chevy dealer take a look at it for you if it's more than the fuse.
