On the SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box How Much Does the Lid Open

Question:

What is the size or width of the opening when the lid of the cargo box is extended open? I am asking about the actual opening of the box distance from top lid to distance from bottom lid while open. I would have assumed it was 14-1/2” for the opening to match the internal dimensions. But then in the one video, the woman says it’s only 13” which seems odd. Can you please confirm??

The SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box part # SR7016 has an internal max height of 14-11/16" at the tallest point. The actual opening of the box (distance from top lid to distance from bottom lid while open) will be more than this to allow for room but I don't have an exact distance for you unfortunately. That said, no matter this distance the item you wish to store could not exceed 14-11/16" tall if you want the box to be able to close properly. If you wanted to to remove the hinges to make the opening larger you could but you'll still be limited to 14-11/16". I spoke to my contact at SportRack who confirmed all of this as well.

If the item does exceed the dimensions above then please let me know how tall it is so I can see if there's another option that would better work for you.
