Question:

Hi, I have some Thule aeroblade crossbars on my vehicle that measuer about 3.25inch wide - I am wondering if the sportrack horizon 16 SR7016 will fit on these wider crossbars. Thanks.

The SportRack Horizon Series of cargo boxes, which include various-size models such as the 16-cubic-foot # SR7016 that you referenced, are designed with mounting hardware that can accommodate a wide range of crossbar shapes and sizes. Your Thule AeroBlade crossbars are fully compatible with this cargo box, as are many others including OEM factory rack bars.

Do just note that your crossbars' centers must be at least 23-5/8-inches apart in order for the box to fit them properly. They can be further apart but this minimum spread applies to all bar types.

You will want to check your owner's manual to confirm your vehicle's roof weight capacity before loading up your cargo. If not available in your owner's manual your local dealership will be able to tell you how much weight the roof can handle. Keep in mind that the empty Horizon 16 by itself weighs 43-lbs. So for example, if your roof capacity is 120-lbs, then after you account for the box's weight you have left a cargo weight capacity of 77-lbs.

Often our customers who use rooftop cargo solutions like the SportRack Horizon 16 also choose a tire step # HE4040. The step comes fully-assembled and simply slips over a rear tire to give you a height advantage for loading and unloading your rooftop cargo.
