Will The T-Track Adapter for Thule Cargo Boxes with PowerClick Work W/ The Thule Evolution 1600?

Question:
Hello, will this kit work with the Thule Evolution #672 cargo box? The Thule rack crossbars are too wide for the u-bolt and quick clamp that comes with box. They came on our 2008 GL320 SUV. Id like to convert by attaching cargo directly to crossbar using t-bolts. The crossbars have 20mm t-track. Checking the u-bolt thread, its about 5/16 wide and 1 and 1/4 long. The t-bolts seem to be the right length. Also , are they a rectangular base?

The T-Track Adapter for Thule Cargo Boxes with PowerClick # TH27PQ is only designed to work with Thule Cargo Boxes that utilize the PowerClick mounting style, and it appears that your Thule Evolution 1600 cargo box uses the Quick-Snap mounting style.
With that being said, since this kit is not going to work with your cargo box and a wider U-bolt is not going to work either, your only option is to sell your current cargo box and replace it with another cargo box like the:
-Thule Force XT XXL Rooftop Cargo Box # TH6359B in which you'll be able to use the T-Track Adapter for Thule Cargo Boxes with PowerClick # TH27PQ.
From here, you will be able to easily mount your cargo box to your crossbars on your vehicle like you're wanting to do.
