Which Way To Install the Replacement Cradle for Thule AcuTight and Quick Grip Mounting Hardware

Question:
I am wondering which side the screw hole is supposed to go on when I attached these to the mounting brackets. Anyone know? Does it matter? It seems like there should be a correct way.

The flat side of the Replacement Cradle for Thule AcuTight and Quick Grip Mounting Hardware part # TH8523387001 will go against the bottom of the cargo box which you can see in the attached photo. Therefore, the screw hole will be facing down towards the crossbar.
