12 Brakes Not Working Correctly After Install

Question:

I replace both of the break pads complete assembly self adjusting on my 7 k axel but it will not break it all .? I can hear the magnet energy but the wheel still spin freely… do I need a new break drum .? Please advise

In regards to the Electric Trailer Brake Kits like part # AKEBRK-7-SA, the most common issue we see with the brakes not engaging after install would be installing the assemblies on the wrong side. This is very easy to check, the actuating arm will be facing the front of the trailer if installed correctly. I have attached a photo below which explains this better. If the assemblies are on the correct sides, make sure you have a full twelve volts going into the magnet.

Please note, even self-adjusting brakes still require an initial adjustment so if you have not already done this I recommend doing this before proceeding. The hub/drum would not likely cause the issue you're experiencing.
