Question:
Are these lights DOT compliant? Optronics ThinLine Clearance or Side Marker Light item # MCL67ABCB
asked by: Ben
Expert Reply:
Yes, the Optronics ThinLine Clearance or Side Marker Light item # MCL67ABCB is DOT compliant. It is compatible with 12v systems and measures 4-1/8" long x 1-1/4" tall x 1-3/16" deep. It is an amber lens over white LEDs.
This is a A P2-rated light that produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer. One as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
