Will The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement # TFERSDLB Fit A 2008 Gulfstream BT Cruiser

Published 12/29/2022

Question:

I have a 2008 Gulfstream BT Cruiser, 14500lb gvw motorhome. It is on a Ford E450 chassis. Are these a good fit. Do I need additional spacers.

I spoke with Timbren about the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFERSDLB that you were looking at and was informed that these will only fit a cube van and will not fit a motorhome so you would need part # TFERSD instead.

The # TFERSD is confirmed to fit and you should have a 1/2" to 1-1/2" gap when they're installed without using spacers. These should only "activate" if your motorhome is loaded up or when you hit a bump in the road. They have a 5,600lb capacity so if you were constantly riding on these you'd notice a much stiffer ride than what's really comfortable.

If you're having issues with ride quality and want something that will always be fighting to give you a smooth ride then I recommend going with the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-106-54-1. These springs have a 7,000lb capacity and will compress to get stiffer as the load increases to transition easier than Timbren's, which are a stiff hunk of rubber with very little give.

These do require 7 inches of minimum clearance from sidewall of the tire to the frame on dual rear wheel models, so you will want to measure your clearance before purchasing.

I've attached short video below where Dave will go over the benefits of these springs and show you them in action.
