SumoSprings helper springs are great for RVs or motor homes. Heavy rear loads can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the motor home's weight. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.
Each spring in this kit is bolted to two mounting brackets. One bracket is attached to the frame of your vehicle, and the other bracket is attached to the axle, typically above your existing factory leaf spring. Because each helper spring is in full contact at the top and bottom of the suspension's travel, the expanding and contracting action of the SumoSprings enhances your ride under all conditions, not just when it's loaded. And the closed-cell urethane springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.
SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.
The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.
These springs extend in height by as much as 50 percent to allow more movement in your suspension when you're traveling unloaded, making your ride smoother and more comfortable.
These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).
SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.
This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

Springs attach at top and bottom for constant support. We ordered the sumo springs for our 2004 coachmen freedom series. The order came in just a few days as they did when we bought a heavy duty rear stabalizer last year. While I waited for the order ,myself and a grandson put the rear of our rv up on 7500 lb jack stands, two would have been fine but I wanted two more just in case. We took the rear duals off to make the installation easier ,and it was. Instalation went well, only having to move the gas line on passenger side up an inch by moving a clamp. We hoped these would help the light steering issue and related pushing from side when we would get passed on freeway. Not only did it clear up these issues but also quieted the coach down some. All my tests where done at highway speeds with the towed car behind. Thank you again to all at etrailer! Don. Ps. Had issue loading pics will update another time
The product looks great...and I wish I could install it but it didn't fit on my Ford E450 Super with a Thor "Chateau" class "C" RV. It should fit on a E450 but the way the camper is installed, the point of connection between the camper and the chassis, it is exactly where the Sumo Spring is expected to be installed, And you can't change the mounting location nor can you alter the camper support. I'll have to try to install a less effective spring helper.

These springs are designed to fit your application. However, we have reached out to the manufacturer and will be getting more information on your set up to make double sure on whether these are confirmed to fit or not.
These were perfect for our E450 Dynamax Class C motorhome. They really enhanced the ride and handling. They raised the motorhome overall about an inch and and quarter. I would definitely purchase again.
I worked with the E trailer staff for recommendations for my 2017 E450 motorhome. I was having Sway issues and wind issues with semi trucks inside wind. They recommended a front and rear sway bar, a reflex steering stabilizer shock and the sumo springs helpers for the rear axle. I installed all four items at the same time and all my issues were solved. The coach drives very stable and the Rear of the motorhome does not Sage either. They were great help!
Firstly great many thanks to etrailer for advice and and product information. You helped buy the perfect fit for our Fleetwood Tioga ranger. When it came to fitting the sumo springs your video and instructions made it so much easier. It took around 2.5 hours to fit and we didn’t even have to take the wheels off.
The difference before and after fitting the sumo springs is definitely noticeable. There is less sway, less sag and overall a better ride. I am glad we went with more heavy duty version that you recommended. Our class C Rv is quite heavy and this kit suits it very well. We would recommend this to anyone who has a ford E450 super duty chassis for their rv
the rear installation was very challenging as the rv mfg had a body crossmember with a vertical attachment welded to the frame at the exact spot that the sumo spring frame bracket needed to be mounted. i had to get a little creative to overcome this obstacle but i got it done. seems to work fine . the real test will be when i hook my 8000 pound trailer to it
Much harder to I stall than the front units. You need a strong jack, jack stands and a powerful drill. Be very careful about the wires and brake lines inside the chassis. Be prepared to remove the rear wheels, which is a challenge on a dually. It can be done at home, but you need to be pretty handy and very careful. It took me about 2 hours per side, being careful as I went. However, combined with the front helpers they work superbly. The vastly reduce body roll and pitch and make the ride much better. They make the camper much easier to steer as well. Consider having them installed professionally if you are not mechanically adept, but they are well worth the purchase price.
I have a 28-foot-long class A motorhome on a Ford F53 Chassis. The handling of the vehicle at any speed above 50 mph is terrible. The vehicle wanders all over; very difficult to keep the vehicle between the lane marker lines. The SumoSprings, installed front and rear, did not solve this problem. Money would have been better spent elsewhere!
Front and rear Sumo Springs installed. Have not had a chance to hit the highway as yet. Locally a very good ride. Thanks to Joanne K. for all of her help.
without the sumosprings it was a whiteknuckle experiance so much so. it should be standard equipment
Greatly improved ride and handling. Had to re-plumb gray tank drain around spring.
I had these sumosprings installed on my class A motorhome 1yr ago to eliminate role. I have been extremely pleased to experience a 90% reduction in role and a MUCH smoother ride. The motorhome is easier to drive and maneuver single handed, even in the turns.
As always, eTrailer service and delivery was flawless for me on these SumoSprings for my 2021 WBGO Adventurer 29B Class A. Installation was done by a local WBGO dealer, who noted that it was easy and relatively quick to accomplish. My reason for getting the SumoSprings was to reduce rear body sway in turns and due to wind buffeting. For this, they seem to work well -- there is noticeably less sway now than before -- which is more confidence-inspiring and takes some of the effort out of dealing with passing trucks or brisk gusts of wind (especially from the side). However, as with any suspension modification that effectively stiffens the suspension, the sway reduction is accompanied by a somewhat harsher ride. This is especially noted when crossing bumps, train tracks, and expansion joints. For me, it's an acceptable compromise, after all, the RV is still a truck and will always ride and handle like one.
not too bad to install. Did them in couple hours in my driveway
My motorhome drives great and does not sway bad anymore. I also added Michelin tires which made the ride even better!
I watched the install video probably three or four times before these arrived at the house. I went ahead and removed my wheels just like the install video. Everything went smoothly. I took our Fleetwood Flair 32s on a test drive and I was really impressed with the overall feel of our RV now.. The first thing I noticed was the fact that I’m not having to constantly correct to stay in my lane. In the past my hands were constantly moving to maintain a line. Not now.
Fit perfect and easy to install after figuring out how to install. 2 bolts missing and no instructions in box.
Our 28 foot Ford chassis Class A handles like flying a kite with no string. It needed help. I started with the Sumo springs because the description made it sound like I could do them myself. Yep. Job accomplished.
Then, I purchased a front sway bar, which did not come with my motorhome. Got ready for the job and discovered Sumo springs are incompatible with mounting a front sway bar. Had I known…
By the way, we are still flying our kite and having a ball. 15 states and 16,000 happy miles.
But it could be better.
Finally completed my SumoSprings with these rear ones for our 2022 Entegra Vision 29s (Ford F53 chassis V8). A while back, I installed the front SumoSprings and it changed our RV from a “white-knuckling, Nordictrack-exercising, stress-induced-heart-stopping” drive to a…comfortable and sure-footed one.
This time around I installed the rear ones and it complimented the drive even more!! We pull a ~5k lbs utility trailer w/off-road UTV’s and we don’t sway or fishtail as much in the rear anymore! We love SumoSprings!! We have them in ALL of our vehicles!! Highly recommend!
I deducted 1 star for eTrailer. I made the mistake of repurchasing the front SumoSprings again instead of the rears, without triple checking what I bought. I cancelled a minute too late to prevent it from being shipped. Unfortunately, it was shipped and they had to issue me a return label for when it arrives. Thus deducting logistics and restocking fee from my purchase refund.
Granted, it was 100% my fault for the wrong purchase but eTrailer could have given a loyal customer a one time pass.
2017 Newmar Canyor Star: We installed the front & rear SUMO springs and the side-to-side sway improved a lot. Total installation time was less than 4 hours.
I am sure these are very good, the only reason for the low rating is to get attention so no one makes the same mistake like i did.
These DONOT FIT on a 2018 Jayco Greyhawk equipped with the JRide suspension. The Heliwig helper springs are in the way.
etrailer application guide needs to be updated, the picture attached show the Heliwigs are in the way.

A year on the sumo springs. The springs are holding up quite well. There were 2 travel days where the wind was gusting to 20mph ,quite a bit gained in stability. Sure ...you still notice the harder gusts but it is much easier to handle. I just finished lifting the back end up to inspect the sumo springs and everything was tight and free of rub marks. I want to thank etrailer again for good instructions on these and for answering concerns I had!
