Question:

Good morning and Merry Christmas. WE have a 2021 F450. We pull a 2022 Vanleigh Beacon 34RLB at 18,000 lbs gross. Our truck came with the Ford OEM fifth wheel hitch 32,000 GTW. I believe its built by Reese. It does not have the features of their Item # RP68FR. Our current hitch has a tab in the front of the hitch that the hitch pin pushes against to allow the hitch to be secured with the hitch safety pin. This system is problematic as the tab will bend down and not contact the hitch pin correctly. I have to climb in the bed and bend it back up for proper locking. I am thinking I will replace the hitch with a new one and I am looking to see if you have a recommendation. I kind of like the BandW product BWRVK3305. If Curt or the newer Reese is better for some reason, I would listen. Thanks.

I recommend going with the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3305 on your 2021 Ford F-450. This hitch has the quality of being made in the USA unlike both the Curt # C48BR and Reese # RP68FR. I've never been a fan of Reese as they like to come out with a new hitch and completely discontinue any parts for the old hitch forcing you to have to get a new 5th wheel. B&W also has a great warranty department who prefer to work directly with their warranty claims to determine what went wrong and help to ensure you do not have the issues again.
