Helpful Expert Reply:
For your 2011 Ford Flex with the 3.5L non-ecoboost engine we only have the Kat's Heaters Custom Engine Block Heater # KH11409 which is a frost plug style connection. The Cartrige Heater # KH11815 you found is only for the ecoboost engines. The frost plug style heater for your Flex replaces a threaded plug on the rear of your engine on the passenger side. The plug has a recessed allen head(see image below) and will need to be accessed by removing the front passenger side tire. This will drain your engine coolant when the plug is removed. Depending on your comfort level you may want to have this installation performed at a service shop if you do not have experience with this as coolant can be dangerous if the engine is hot.
