Benefits of a Heated Engine

Start your engine easier and warm your cab faster in cold weather with this cartridge-style engine block heater. Heating your engine coolant keeps it from thickening and freezing, resulting in more reliable start-ups and smoother operation altogether. It also lessens the workload and extends the life of your vehicle's battery. And because starting your engine when it's warm creates less condensation in the engine block than starting it when it's cold, your engine will get better initial fuel vaporization, which causes fewer emissions and less pollution.

Cartridge-Style Heater

This cartridge-style heater simply clips into the cavity of your engine block. There is no need to remove the core frost plug. The power cord on the heater is removable so that you won't need to buy a whole new heater if the cord gets damaged. The cord can be routed through your grille for easy access to a 120-volt outlet or extension cord. Make sure the heating element is fully submerged in the coolant before plugging it in.

2026 Ford Transit T350
The instructions are inaccurate. The mounting location for a 2026 Ford Transit Ecoboost is not the right front but actually the front.

Once I finally found the mounting location and installed it the unit melted. I was skeptical since the instruction video said to use RTV silicone which is a poor insulator and sure enough it overheated and melted its own insulation.

Complete waste of money, do not buy.

Hey Karlin, sorry for the troubles you're having. Did the wiring melt due to rubbing against the exhaust or other hot parts on the car, or was the wiring not touching anything? We haven't heard of these melting their own wires, but if that's the case then we can definitely dig deeper and try to get this covered under warranty. I'll put a note in the system and get the process started for a return / warranty claim.

Install was a little tricky given the location for my vehicle 2012 F150. But other than that pretty straight forward. Packaging was good and product seems well put together. Only time will tell if it works well. I'm not in the cold climate yet. It also does come with the 3 prong as advertised.

Thanks for reaching out. I had just recently sold that truck about a month ago. But wanted to let you know that it has held up very well up here in ND. I had a question. I have recently upgraded my vehicle to a 19 F350 6.7. I wanted to know if you have anything available and if I could get one sent out. For whatever reason, my truck didn’t come with a factory block heater and now with the Ford recall on them. They aren’t in stock anymore and are WAY more expensive then what you guys have. Please let me know, look forward to response

We do not carry a block heater designed to work on a 2019 Ford F-350 6.7 at this time.

Product is fine but, the installation instructions are terrible. Even contacting the manufacturer for the mounting instructions, terrible. Found the mounting place on YouTube. What's up with this?

Block heater gets hot when plugged in not installed. It will burn your hand. The battery wrap does heat up nicely. I have not installed them but assume they will work just fine.

This is the second Kat's heater in this car. The first lasted 5 years or so and worked well so decided to replace with same.

The second heater only lasted for 11 12 months and failed at the wire to heater connection. I returned it and a replacement has been sent under warranty.

The block heater and battery warmer worked excellent last winter! Looking forward to having them for the upcoming Montana winter:-)

Shipped twice without the clip attachment. You’d think after the first return somebody would check the product before shipping.

The install was so easy it almost installs itself.
Find the hole on the back of the block, plug in the heater, snake the cord up and zip it in place.

So far it's held up to regular country road driving conditions and regular use.
Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that, even on a 65ºF day it still takes 2.5 hours to get my block close to operating temp. Even factoring the thermal mass of the engine, still I have plug-in appliances that pull 4x the wattage; I wonder if they could've goosed it a little so I don't have to turn it on ~3 hours earlier.

Works very well on my 2013 Toyota Camry.

Toyota Tundra
I installed this engine block heater on a 2021 Toyota Tundra. The installation was fairly straight-forward as far as installing the actual heating element into the engine block. The challenging part was routing the electrical cord to the front of the truck. Mind you I had the truck elevated by tire ramps during the time of installation.

Top service and peoples with high class I recommend this company

Installed this on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Haven’t really tested it out yet as I installed it before it got seriously cold. Installation was easy. Just follow etrailers super helpful video. I did have to file a slight flat on the heater to clear the bell housing overhang. Not a manufacturer issue on the heaters part. Just normal variance on Toyota’s end.

2014 Dodge Ram Pickup
2014 Dodge Ram 5.7L uses Kat’s 11816 cartridge heater. Perfect fit. Must remove the two starter bolts and slide it out of the way. Don’t disconnect starter wires. Just slide starter out of the way. Easily done with truck on ramps. Clean out hole. Find a correct size retaining screw. Not sure what size or If hole is threaded. Too much rust. Just be able to jam some screw in there to retain the cartridge, until silicone dries. Smear about an inch wide layer of high temp silicone around the base of the cartridge. Insert cartridge, twist back and forth to spread silicone, and hold in place with retaining screw. Route wire straight forward. I used 1 1/8” spade bit to drill a hole in black plastic in bumper, but my bumper was already messed up, so I didn’t care much. Plug hangs out grill about 3”. Use zip ties to secure cord to square tubing frame post inside bumper.

The product itself seems fine, but in spite of my communications with etrailer and, through them, Kat's, the item did not fit as promised. The installation attempt cost me $[XX].

Quick delivery and part fit my vehicle perfectly.

2019 Lexus RX 350
This engine block heater is an affordable option to the OEM block heater. Easily installed on a 2019 Lexus RX350. I have this paired with a battery trickle charger for the very cold northern Canadian winters. I've had no issues after 1 year of ownership using this product. Recommended to anyone needing a cartridge style block heater.

Arrived fast to Canada. Couldn’t find anywhere else! Will be installing in spring when not to gross underneath since we are through the cold now. 5 stars for delivery and communication will update once installed!

Install was super easy, product works great exactly as expected. Since installing we have not had the same temps that I ordered it for but sure does allow the engine to crank effortlessly.
