What is the Red Button on the Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller For

Question:
I just finished installing a Hopkins Reliant model and the instructions did not tell me what the big red button on the unit does. I understand that the controller automaticly applies the trailer brake when I apply the vehicle brake. On my test drive I could not tell if the brakes trailer were working.

The red button on the top of the Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller # HM47294 is the manual override lever. When you slide this lever your trailer brakes should activate.
If it seems like your brake controller is not activating like it should you might go over the install and setup process. What does the display show when you are pressing the brakes?
