Question:
Im looking at an Endeavor lightweight trailer for my Honda Pioneer 500 UTV. The trailer weighs 500 lbs and the UTV with fluids is 1250 pounds. Im thinking the class 1 hitches you have for my 2019 VW jetta should be adequate? The trailer website indicates Class 2 minimum doesnt make sense.

Using the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24978 on your 2019 Volkswagen Jetta the receiver is capable of supporting a trailer up to 2,000lbs with a tongue weight up to 200lbs. You will want to verify towing capability with your owners manual or dealer service department to determine exact capacities for your Jetta.
More than likely with Endeavor rating the trailer for a class II receiver is for one of 2 reasons. As they list the dry weight at 530lbs with a load capacity of 2,000lbs they do not actually call out the trailer GVWR. So it may be the trailer GVWR is either 2,000lbs or 2,530lbs. And since most trailers have a tongue weight that should be 10%-15% of total trailer weight they are playing it safe saying you need at least a class II receiver. As long as you do not exceed the ratings for your vehicle, the receiver or the hitch you can tow trailers rated higher than what your vehicle is capable of towing.
With the Draw-Tite hitch installed we found it had a height of 10-1/4" from the ground, you will want to use the Ball Mount # C45025 with 2" Hitch Ball # C40018. This will get you as close to the 15" hitch height of the Endeavor trailer. I recommend using the Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock and Coupler Lock Set # 3794DAT to secure your trailer to your Jetta when connected but also a storage lock to prevent someone just hooking up to the trailer and driving away.
For the trailer lighting you will need a T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118791 to give you the necessary 4-way flat connector.
