Question:
I recently repacked all my bearings tandem axle trailer, which is a great time to inspect the brakes. Three of my hubs/shoes sets are in great shape RV is less than two years old. One of them, however, is scored badly and one of the associated shoes is pitted. My intention is to purchase a new brake assembly and have the hub turned. If I do this, can I leave the other three alone? Or do I need to do them all? Or should I at least do the same with the one on the opposite side of the same axle?

Expert Reply:
It is not required to replace all of the brakes at once on your tandem axle trailer. However, you should replace the opposite side brake assembly on that same axle as you said. Assuming you need a 12" x 2" brake assembly like the # 23-105 you were looking at, you will need the # 23-105-106 for a left and right hand assembly. If you want self-adjusting brakes then you will need the # 23-458-459 instead.
