Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk or rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Great product. Easy install. Had to cut passenger side harness and reconnect because couldn't fit the connector which seems like a common issue but very easy. Only two wires.

by:

Easy install with Excellent Instruction using the video. No splicing into new vehicle wiring which will affect the warrantee. Also prompt shipping and tracking.

Thank You

2012 Ford Edge

I installed this harness on our 2012 Ford Edge. The quality of the product seemed very good, as it has been in the past with this company. It is fairly time consuming too install, but that isn't the fault of the maker of the harness. My only problem was that I felt the instructions could have been a little more detailed. Someone who isn't exceptionally handy would probably have quite a bit of trouble installing this harness.

by:
2011 Ford Edge

the t-connector works great ,this was put on a 2011 edge sport ,other stores said that the 118515 connector would not work on the sport, but etrailer said it would ,and it did.great communication and quick shipping.thank you

by:
2011 Ford Edge

The wiring harness was pretty straight forward. The harness plugged in everywhere it was supposed to, and I had plenty of wire to run to the battery. It is time consuming (2 hours for me) to run all of the wires, but it isn't a fault of the harness. I had a hard time feeding the wire under the dashboard to the engine compartment since I didn't want to run it under the vehicle where it might be damaged. Overall, a great product!

2012 Ford Edge

I bought a hitch and electrical connector for my 2012 Ford Edge. The hitch installation went very well. Even the part of snaking a wire thru the frame to pull a washer and bolt thru a hole went very well. The hitch looks great. The electrical connection went just as easy. I am very happy how things worked out.

by:
2012 Ford Edge

The wiring harness performs as described. The instructions are a bit vague, for instance, it does not tell you to remove the storage trays on each side of the spare tire in order to fish the wires to the tail lights. Finding a safe route for the hot wire which runs from the battery to the rear of the vehicle can be a challenge also. Installation took me about 3 hours.

by:
2011 Ford Edge

Excellent Class III hitch for my 2011 Edge Sport - instructions were excellent, with photos of the actual vehicle and very good step by step instruction. I had no issues with the installation, and everything fit just right. Even the wiring kit installation was flawless. The only problem i had with the wiring kit is that the t-connectors for my 2011 Edge would not possibly fit through the smaller grommet in the taillight housing, so I had to cut & splice both left & right for that to work; the other issue is that the wiring for the left side (yellow & brown wires were not long enough to feed through and meet with the control module, so again I had to splice extensions for that side. Other than that, it all worked out great and looks great.

by:
2012 Ford Edge

I Limited version of the 2012 Edge and while the left-side installation was easy, the right-side would not snake throgh the sidewall between the chasis and the interior side panels due to the sub-woofers use of the same space. I ended up cutting the red and green wires about 4ft from the T-connector and using butt-terminals and shrink wrap. I took the opportunity to add a protective sheath over the wire all the way back to the light assembly. Also, the instructions don't tell you that the two plastic trays in the cargo area are easily lifted out. They are kept in place by a few guide pins. The hardest part is running the wire from the battery back to the control module. The instructions want you run the wire through the interior of the car, but I added about 16ft. of protective sheath and ran the wire behind the battery, down the fire wall and along underside of the chasis. There is a plastic rock guard that runs down the drivers side and I tie-wrapped the wire above that. From the underside of the car, you can't see the rubber gromet that is above the left-rear heat shield. Just send a fish down from the cargo bay and pull the wire through. Works great and I'm glad to know that the car's electronics are separated from the trailer wiring.

by:
2013 Ford Edge

Wiring was straightforward, exactly as in video and quite easy. It was not hard at all to modify install and run the wires on the interior inside the door sills instead of zip tied underneath the vehicle. Also easily added the wiring adapter to the hitch for a clean look. I wouldn't hang the wires, pinched under the back door, not when it was this easy to add the mount and adapter. Either get the flat mounting bracket or upgrade to the dual as I did.

by:

Installation of this wiring harness on my 2013 Ford Edge was fairly easy, the install video provided by etrailer.com was easy to follow and gives a step by step process. Instead of running the main power wire under the vehicle I chose to run it inside. The wire tucked nicely under the panels along the driver side, there’s a grommet that goes right into the engine bay above the pedals under the driver side fire wall. Also opted for the adapter #37175 to avoid running the 4 pole flat wire under the tailgate. The install for the wiring harness took approximately an hour

Took a little extra to get wires around bass speaker in back right that not all Ford Edges have. Overall was not that difficult and is working great.

by:

I actually haven't installed the wiring yet. Hitch is solid tho

by:

Was pretty easy to install with help of the online videos. Did have to make a slight alteration as I could not get the plug thru the passenger side opening on my particular model.

by:

I bought my "made to fit" hitch and wiring from you a year ago. It was the second time I bought a hitch and wiring from you (I traded that vehicle for this one). I both cases the hitch and wiring fit right, worked right and were easy to install using your video tutorials. You all do a great job over there. Keep up the good work. Ok...one suggestion only: the hitch for my old Saturn Vue came with a rubber cover for the receiver but the one for my Ford Edge didn't so I bought one at [outdoor and homegoods store]. I suggest always including one with a hitch. Thanks again for being a solid, reliable company with good products that work as advertised.

This is the second time I've used etrailer.com, and frankly, I'm blown away at how great this place has been in 1) having what I need and 2) delivering it more quickly than they promise. etrailer is neck and neck with Amazon in ease of use and delivery (in my opinion), and that's really saying something.

As for this particular product, I'm very pleased. It was delivered as seen in the pic and was relatively simple to install. The only downside was that the screw used to afix the ground wire was missing from the package, and the instructions were lacking -- in fact, they miss the final step of the installation.

Again, I'm very happy with my experience and will use etrailer.com for any and all of my future needs.

Everything is still great, Patrick. Thanks for checking in.

Wiring harness has been installed and tested with the trailer. No problems with either. I am disappointed that the instructions say to run the trailer end of the wiring out of the vehicle through the tailgate gasket when there is a more professional way to easily get the flat connector outside with no worry about pinching the wiring in the tail gate opening.

JU=ust fine, no problems with several uses for over a year

by:

My order arrived quickly, (3 days) was correct and installed exactly as in the video! I did choose to route the power wire internally and slipped it through the firewall alongside the factory wiring harness. Start to finish took about two and a half hours for the hitch and wiring. Excellent service, quality and instructions! I would definitely recommend etrailer, and will use them again for my next hitch.

Although I have not installed this yet, I will rate excellent based on prior experience. This is the 4th hitch & wiring from Etrailer in the past 8 years that I have purchased and installed. 2 for my cars, one for a relative and one for my fiancee. All have been easy to install, excellent quality, with superior support and service.

  • Trailer Hitch & Wiring for 2014 Ford Edge
Both Draw-Tite and Curt hitches are good quality products. While one given hitch fit may favor one brand over the other in total they both offer excellent products. Curt hitches can sometimes have a nicer powder coat finish, and since they are made in the USA they do offer that appeal. Of the options available I suggest the Draw-Tite 2-inch Class III hitch # 75992 for its lower price and freedom from the Curt requirement of using a support strap with non-trailer loads like bike racks....

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendations for 2013 Ford Edge
To install a 4-pole trailer connector on your 2013 Ford Edge, I'd recommend the Tow Ready # 118515. This wiring harness does have a direct connection to the battery, this is done for a good reason. Years ago, you could tap into the taillight circuits to power your trailer taillights. The wires were of sufficient gauge so that plenty of power for both the vehicle and the trailer taillights could be drawn through the vehicle's taillight circuits. Now, due to cost restraints, the automobile...
