I have a 2017 Ram 2500 diesel with Ram Boxes and short bed. If this doesnt work can you steer me in the right direction for the right 5th wheel hitch I should purchase? Thank you

Normally we do recommend a sliding 5th wheel hitch like the B&W Companion # BWRVK3670 for a short bed truck but since you have the RamBoxes on your 2017 Ram 2500 we need to prevent the body of the pin box from moving so it doesn't ram into the sides of your truck bed during turns.
Instead what you need is a stationary 5th wheel hitch and a Reese Sidewinder pin box that has a rotating turret. For a 5th wheel hitch I recommend the B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 and Wedge Kit # SWW-06 to keep the king pin of the Sidewinder in place.
If you can let me know the pin box number on your 5th wheel trailer I can make a replacement recommendation for you. There should be a sticker on the side that has something like"1621" on it - which for that pin box you'll need the 20K Sidewinder # RP34FR.
