Does the unit have to be mounted vertically or can it be mounted horizontally on a vertical surface?

The orientation of the Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth and Emergency Shut Down # HU27FR that you mention does not matter.

This unit can be mounted in any orientation, however it is easier to read if it mounted vertically.

I have attached a customer submitted photo showing # HU27FR being mounted upside down.
