Question:
Hi there, Planning to buy #13077 for my 2015 BMW X5 35d M sport. As I need to tow a bass boat - I need a mounting bracket for 7 pins socket. The question is how to mount it - can you please recommend, should I use Mighty Cord Universal 7-Way Mounting Bracket Item # A10-9394VP can I simply attach this to the car body? Or Curt Easy Mount Bracket for 4- or 5-Way Flat and 6- or 7-Way Trailer Connectors - 2-inch Hitch Item # C58000 ..?

I recommend the Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58000 on the end of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13077. This is going to be a solid mount and will handle the weight of the connector and the 7-way harness when they are connected. Using a Mighty Cord Universal 7-Way Mounting Bracket # A10-9394VP attached to the bodywork you are now relying on plastic to hold all that weight. This bracket would be great if it was attaching to steel but I would not feel comfortable with it attaching to only plastic.
The Wiring Harness # 119250KIT will allow you to get the tail light signals without having to splice into the wiring. You will then be able to attach this to the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. Then you will be able to install a Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR to control the electric trailer brakes for the trailer.
