Question:
I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the bottom of the rear 2-inch hitch is 18-inches off the ground. Can I still use the snowplow knowing that it will not reach the ground but be 2-inches above ground level when plowing. 2-inches of unplowed snow will not cause me a problem as far as access is concerned. Thanks for any info.

The Agri-Cover SnowSport Snowplow, part # SS48GV, will fit a 2-inch front- or rear-mount hitch and includes a shank that can be used in either the rise or drop positions; this allows some adjustment of the height of the plow according to your hitch height. Do note that your hitch height will vary somewhat depending on several factors: tire tread depth and inflation pressure and cargo and passenger load. I have linked a product video and the written instructions for your reference.
My contact at AgriCover advised that it is not a problem to use the plow if the bottom edge of the blade is 2 inches above ground level. The 1-inch-thick rubber cutting edge, which is made of a material similar to auto tires, will be stiff enough to push most types of snow, although the weight and stickiness of snow can vary considerably along with outside temperature.
I inquired about the suitability of using a hitch adapter, such as part # MPG544 from Malone. My technical contact at Agri-Cover advised that while they have not tested their plow with this particular part their customers have reported effectively using such an adapter.
Please note that use of adapters like this reduces your hitch capacity by 50 percent. I checked the 2-inch hitches we offer for your 1999 Grand Cherokee and all have a tongue weight rating of 500-lbs. When halved by use of the adapter the resulting 250-lb tongue weight capacity is still well above the 120-lb weight of this plow system. You can check your hitch safety sticker to confirm its rating.
