Measurements and Compatibility of the Redline 10-42 Grease Seal

Question:
I have a boat trailer from the mid 60s with very old axle seals that I would like to replace. I measured the OD as 2.335 inches, and the diameter of the axle where the seal contacts it at 1.789 inches. It looks like you sell a 10-42 seal, with a 1.750 ID. Will this be too tight for my axle? Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Redline Grease Seal item # 10-42 is going to be the closest seal we have to your measurements of 2.335 OD and 1.789 ID. The .03 difference could be caused by a measuring issue like your caliper being off by a small amount. If not the seal has some play in it and should work on your spindle.
