Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness For A 2022 Chevrolet Equinox

Question:

It appears the wiring harness I need is #118750. Is this harness completely plug and play into existing 2022 taillight wiring? Be aware I need a 3 wire pigtail for the taillights not 2 wire. This may be a change by GM I am not sure. Is there a relay in the harness to deal with the low voltage taillights? You should know I am somewhat out of my element here so hopefully I have explained my situation accurately.

When it comes to installing a trailer wiring harness on your 2022 Chevrolet Equinox the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # TK67KR is the right option.

The wiring has a simple plug and play installation that plugs behind the driver and passenger side tail lights. Then you will have to run the hot lead up to the car's battery. When the wiring harness is not in use I recommend The 4 Pole Mounting Bracket # 18144. This will keep your harness out of the way and give it a sleeker look when not in use.

On my 2022 Chevy equinox I have the basic tow package without the two relays. My car powers a small basic utility trailer but not my boat trailer. On the boat trailer I have running lights but no signal or brake lights. Do you think this T one harness with the two relays is necessary?

@JasonS Hello Jason, It sounds like your 2022 Chevy Equinox is almost fully set up for towing, but just missing a small (yet important) piece of the puzzle. Since you mentioned that your utility trailer works fine but your boat trailer only has running lights with no brake or turn signals, that’s a strong sign that the missing relays are the culprit. Even though your Equinox has the basic tow package, GM often leaves out the two relays needed to fully activate the 4-pin trailer wiring. Without them, the connector might still provide power for taillights, but not for the turn signals or brake lights. So yes, you will want the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # TK67KR so that you can get the important lights working on your boat trailer. @KateF The t one connector is on backorder so I ordered the Curt product. One cost$40 and the other cost $100. The curt product does the same thing?
