Bolt Size of Receiver Tube Bolt of the EcoHitch # 306-X7180 on a 2012 Chevy Volt

Question:

What grade of bolt is used between the car and the steal hitch? Also, wouldnt this be a single point of failure?

I believe you are referring to the invert adapter where the hitch tube connects to the rest of the EcoHitch Stealth # 306-X7180. That bolt is a 1/2” x 2-1/2” bolt. You are correct that this is a single point of failure. I went ahead and attached photos of this bolt attached to the receiver tube.

If you wish to have a more stable hitch receiver tube connection point, on your 2012 Chevy Volt, I recommend the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7186. The receiver tube is welded to the rest of the frame of the hitch for a more secure attachment. This hitch also provides a more factory look on your vehicle.
