Weight Distribution Hitch For a 2019 Toyota Tacoma With Hitch Head Weight Below 60lbs

Updated 04/06/2022 | Published 04/05/2022

Question:

I have back issues and cant lift a 60lb hitch. Can you tell me how much the hitch weighs? We have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma with 700 TW capacity. Is 1000 lb rated hitch OK or will it be too stiff?

The Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C69JR weighs 95lbs for all the different components. The head assembly is going to weigh approximately 64lbs that goes into the receiver.

A better option would be the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0800. This entire assembly weighs 99lbs but the hitch head assembly only weighs approximately 43lbs. The trunnion spring bars are only 14lbs each. This hitch is also rated for a tongue weight of 400-800lbs and maximum trailer weight of 8,000lbs which better matches what you will pull with your Tacoma. As the Curt you saw is rated for 800-1,000lbs tongue weight and a maximum trailer weight of 10,000lbs which is much higher that your Tacoma is capable of hauling.

You will need to select either a 2" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6080 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6100 to match your trailer coupler. A 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 is needed to install the hitch ball onto the head.
