Question:
I just purchased 2022 WILDWOOD FSX Model 178BHSK. I purchased from / the dealership installed a Curt C17500 10K / 4POINT / EQ. The tow vehicle is a Mercedes-Benz GLE350 RWD. Questions: 1.How effective would this be for towing the above trailer? 2. Is there a better choice than the C17500? 3. The tow vehicle hitch has a maximum tongue weight of 600 lbs. Has this been exceeded?

The Curt TruTrack # C17500 is a capable system, but has the incorrect capacity for your 2022 Forest River Wildwood FSX 178BHSK. The reason is, that system is for loaded tongue weights between 800 lbs and 1,000 lbs, and your Wildwood has a GVWR of 4,830 lbs. Your total tongue weight is going to be in the 12 or so percent range of the GVWR, so approximately 600 lbs (which is also the limit of your vehicle so definitely make sure you double check).
The TruTrack will give you a very stiff ride due to it being rated too highly, and the best weight distribution for your trailer is instead an option from Blue Ox:
- Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW0750
The SwayPro # BXW0750 is for loaded tongue weights between 550 lbs and 750 lbs, which your Wildwood is directly in the center of. Aside from just being rated correctly, the SwayPro also offers exceptional performance, and is much quieter than other systems. The reason for that is because it uses brackets connected to lift chains so you won't hear the loud, grating noise that comes with systems that use friction-style brackets such as the TruTrack.
This hitch also has four points of sway control - at the hitch head and brackets - which offers the best prevention you can get against trailer sway, helping ensure you have the most controlled, comfortable, and safe towing experience. It also comes with everything you need for installation so you don't have to make any other purchases.
