Weight Distribution Recommendation for NuCamp Tab 400

Updated 02/16/2026 | Published 02/02/2026

Question:

I have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator Mohave with a 6000 lbs tow capacity. I am looking to purchase a NuCamp Tab 400 which is 2700 lbs empty and will not put more than 3200 lbs gross weight. I want to ensure I do not have any issues, but I also do not know if the weight distribution hitch is too big for the setup I am going for or if I should try something smaller. I would like to be safe in my towing experience as I want the safest ride for my wife and I to tow.

Hey Clyde, the best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to go with a system that has a tongue weight range where your trailer's tongue weight when loaded falls right into the middle of. Doesn't have to be exactly in the middle but getting it within the range is the way to go. For that we have the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution part # FA94-00-0600 which would work great for a trailer that when loaded would be up to 3,200 lb as the tongue weight of a trailer is typically 10 to 15 percent of the total weight and this system has a range of up to 600 lbs. Have you used WD systems before?

Clyde, I have the same hitch you are considering and I have similar tow capacity and camper weight. I think you are spot on with choosing this hitch setup. Good luck. Ty

First off make sure that when installed verify that all the hitch bolts are properly torqued. Mine came loose on bottom bolt and could have created a problem if not caught in time. Also, have an extra tall block or two of wood when raising the hitch and locked trailer receiver up. You have to go pretty high to allow those bars to slide into place or for removal. I’d suggest an electric jack as it’s money well spent in the long run.
