What Hitch Fits My Non-AWD 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

Updated 04/11/2022 | Published 04/03/2022

Question:

I also don't know where to take my vehicle to get that hitch put on my car so I can use my 1UP USA bike carrier! I hope I figure it out soon! Thanks so much again for responding twice.

Definitely! We have a great hitch that fits a non-AWD 2022 Volkswagen Taos. For that recommendation, I suggest the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C38JR. This hitch has a ton of advantages over the competitor Draw-Tite # DT79GR. First off, the Curt Hitch does not require and drilling to enlarge the bolt holes. Lastly, since the gloss overcoat over the base powder coat offers more protection than the Draw-Tite, you get more overall protection against rust and corrosion. To top it all off, the Curt hitch is assembled in the U.S.A. while the Draw-Tite is assembled overseas.

Not a problem! If you plan to use the hitch for a bike rack, there is an additional consideration to make: the shank length of the rack. This is important because you need to have enough length on your 1UP rack in order to clear the rear bumper with the Curt Hitch # C38JR installed. With the # C38JR, the center pinhole of the hitch is 5-1/2 inches from the rear face of your bumper. I recommend measuring your bike's shank from the center of the pinhole (where you put the pin to attach it to the hitch) to the closest part of the rack. It is important to do this measurement with the rack folded up if the rack has a folding mechanism in it in order to be accurate. That measurement needs to be more than 5-1/2 inches long in order to clear the rear bumper. If it is less, I recommend using the Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 7" # HE06 for extra length on the shank. It is important to note that if you use this extender, it will decrease the hitch's weight capacity to 100 pounds of tongue weight. As far as where to get the hitch installed, there is a way to check for our local installers in your area! There is text underneath the product photos/videos that reads "Need help with installation? Locate installers near me." I went ahead and attached a photo that shows where this is located. From that link, you can find local installers that we recommend near your zip code.
