Question:
Hello, I have a centerline Husky setup with a 2” receiver. I have a 2500 Ram and I would like to utilize the 2-1/2” receiver. The TW of my 35’ trailer is 1050 lbs and the GVWR is 10,000lbs, but approx. 8300lbs empty. My plan is to use the Gen-Y weight distribution system in conjunction with the Husky centerline hitch. Is this possible? Also, which Gen-Y weight distribution shank would you recommend?

I do have an option for you, but given the information provided the Gen-Y Torsion Weight Distribution Shank # 325-GH-1102 which fits directly in your 2-1/2" hitch is not the best route for you. That is because the Gen-Y Torsion Weight Distribution Shank # 325-GH-1102 needs a minimum tongue weight of 1,200 lbs for the built-in shock absorption to function. With your trailer only having a tongue weight of 1,050 lbs. it wouldn't be enough for this shank to work appropriately for you.
Instead I would recommend going with the Gen-Y Torsion Weight Distribution Shank # GY54FR and using the Gen-Y Hitch Reducer Sleeve # 325-GH-007 to adapt it for use in your 2-1/2" hitch. The Gen-Y Torsion Weight Distribution Shank # GY54FR needs a minimum of 400 lbs. of tongue weight for the built-in shock absorption to function and can handle up to 1,100 lbs. which exceeds your maximum needs and will work with your Husky Centerline System.
