How to Determine If Kenda 205/65-10 Tire w/ Wheel & 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern Can Replace 5.70-8 Tire

Updated 03/02/2022 | Published 03/01/2022

Question:

Hi. I have a 1991 Jayco 806 SD, which needs new tires, maybe wheels. Looking at the stock size, 5.70x8 in a 4x4in pattern, their are only a few options, with a max speed of 65mph. I am taking a long distance trip 700 miles 1-way, and would like to have a higher speed available to me. Also, the stock tires are very narrow and small, requiring a 6-in on my hitch. I am wondering if you know if the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range B would fit on this camper? I am willing to check measurements myself, but I am not sure what I would need to measure to help solve this. Thanks in advance!

While we have no way of knowing off-hand, I can definitely tell you what to measure to determine if your 5.70-8 tire and wheel can be replaced by the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range B # AM3H330.

Since you have the same bolt pattern, you just need to check clearances, and keep in mind that you want about 3" of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1" of clearance between the inside of the tire and your trailer's frame rail.

When inflated, the # AM3H330 measures 20.8" in diameter and 8.3" wide, which is quite a bit more than the 18" diameter and 5.9" width of a 5.70-8 tire.
