Question:
I just bought a new bike whos horizontal post has a width of 2.25 inches while the cradles on my Thule 912XT are less than 2 inches wide. Are there replacement cradles that I can use that are wide enough to handle my new bike?

I just spoke with my rep at Thule. Your Thule 912XT bike rack has a 35 lbs capacity per bike limit. The Cradle for Roadway Bike Carriers item # 853-7887 is less than 2" wide because it is only meant to support lighter weight bikes. They do not make wider cradles for this purpose. These bike racks are also not meant to be used with carbon fiber bike racks to prevent frame damage.
I recommend upgrading your current bike rack to the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes Wheel Mount item # TH23JV if you have a 1-1/4" hitch. Or the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes Wheel Mount item # TH83JV if you have a 2" hitch.
