What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 with 275/65-20 Tires?

The owners manual for my 2022 GMC 3500 HD says not to use tire chains for my 275 65R20 size tires as it may result in damge. I am looking for an alternative that will fit. Really could use your help.

Thanks so much for including a picture of your 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 HD owner's manual. This recommendation is actually quite common. The reason why manufacturers include these warnings is because they want to "wash their hands" of any liability if there is damage that results from using the tire chains on your 275/65-20 tires.

However, even with that being said, there are ways that you can safely check to make sure that you have the correct clearance required to safely use tire chains. For an extremely safe option, I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern # TC2335. The reason why these are a super safe option is because not only are they Class S rated for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance, they also come with really thin 3.7mm chains. In order to definitely ensure you have enough wheel well clearance for the Titan Chains, you need a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well and at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself. I went ahead and attached a diagram of how to definitively measure for adequate clearance.

As with all tire chains, I recommend consulting further with your owner's manual to make sure you are following all guidelines outlined.
