Replacing Ventline Vent Operator And Knob

Question:
I have to change this operator as it is slipping inside and will not hold the vent lid down tight. 2 questions: Do I take the arm clip off when the lid is down or up and can I change this operator without taking the lid off at the hinge I can get onto the roof thks

You can replace the Replacement Operator w/ Knob and Screw for Ventline Vent with Metal Dome and Old-Style, Rounded Dome # BV0115-04 without having to remove the lid from its hinges.
You may have to move the vent lid up and down a little but most likely you will be able to get it installed without having to move it much at all. You will see in the video I have linked the steps to replace the operator.
